Positively Allegan exists to provide entertainment, adventure, and fun in the City of Allegan!
Formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in August of 2015, Positively Allegan is made up of a nine member board of appointed Allegan community members, and two City of Allegan staff members (the Promotions Coordinator and the Promotions Assistant.)
Positively Allegan is host to several year-round events that take place in Downtown Allegan:
Girls Night Out
We start the spring season on the last Friday of April with a night of extended shopping hours in Downtown Allegan and a chance to win fabulous gift basket prizes donated by generous area businesses.
Rollin' on the River
Rollin' on the River is a weekly, Friday night concert series held on the Riverfront Stage beginning the second Friday of June and ending on the last Friday of August. Each concert features high-octane performers from the surrounding West Michigan area spanning rock, folk, blues, country, R&B, and other genres. The free 6pm-9pm event offers two hours of live music and food and alcoholic beverages available for purchase throughout.
Bridgefest is a community festival that has been celebrating Allegan’s Old Iron Bridge and the start of summer since 1983. The all-day event features activities for kids and adults, music and entertainment, food and beverages, fireworks, and more on the second Saturday of June.
July 3 Jubilee
Celebrate the birth of the country with this patriotic community festival featuring a parade, food, live music, activities, and fireworks on the 3rd of July.
Good Times at the Gazebo
Good Times at the Gazebo celebrated its 30th year in 2018 by continuing the free Saturday night concerts at Mahan Park during July and August. The free 7pm-9pm series offers a quieter counterpart to Rollin’ on the River by featuring acoustic, folk, country, jazz, and blues acts.
Allegan Festival of Beers
The Allegan Festival of Beers was inspired by the idea that if Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo can be Beer City destinations, so can Allegan! With so many great brews available in Allegan County, someone needed to lay claim as the "Beer City Pitstop" between those two Beer City giants. The goal of the Allegan Festival of Beers is simple; Positively Allegan wanted to throw a big party celebrating great beer from our area.
Ghouls Night Out
Grab your ghoulfriends, call the gremlin sitter, and put on your spookiest attire...visit Downtown Allegan for a spellbinding evening for a Ghouls Night Out! Dress in costume during extended shopping hours and shop ‘til you drop dead before the bewitching prize drawing event to end the night.
Downtown Allegan Trick-or-Treating
Trick-or-treating at participating Downtown Allegan businesses from 3pm-6pm.
Making spirits bright in Downtown Allegan! Every Friday in December before Christmas, enjoy extended shopping hours, free movies at the Regent Theatre, horse drawn wagon rides through town, hot chocolate on street corners, and visits with Santa. Additionally, each week features a different Downtown-wide event like Art Hop hosted by the Allegan Area Arts Council, a holiday parade, and Stocking Hop.
Allegan boasts Michigan’s LARGEST New Years Eve ball drop event that features food trucks, hot drinks, alcoholic beverages, massive fire pits, glow-in-the-dark ziplining over the Kalamazoo River, live music, and fireworks over the water at the stroke of midnight. Ring in the New Year with this one-of-a-kind outdoor event!
